| Zusammenfassung | Ammonia (NH3) is an air pollutant which has adverse effects on the environment as well as human health. The EU food industries and agricultural sectors contribute significantly to the emission of ammonia in air. Therefore, there has been an increased need in the last years to accurately monitors ambient NH3 amount fraction (concentration) in these sectors for air quality control and emission estimation, and subsequently to provide data for decision making. We have demonstrated in a previous metrology project (MetNH3) that direct traceability of NH3 amount fraction results to the international system of units (SI) can be achieved using a cavity ring-down spectroscopy (CRDS)-based laser spectrometer operated as an optical gas standard (OGS) in the range of up to 250 nmol mol-1 (ppb). In the present work we extend the OGS concept toward higher NH3 amount fractions, that can be measured in and around strong agricultural NH3 sources like livestock housing. |
