| Zusammenfassung | Key Enabling Technologies (KETs) have been identified by the European Commission as the basis for innovation with applications in multiple industries. Six technology areas were described in 2018 as KETs [1]: 1. advanced manufacturing 2. advanced materials and nanotechnologies 3. photonics and micro -and nano-electronics 4. life science technologies 5. artificial intelligence 6. digital security and connectivity It is considered that Metrology is a key enabler for the advancement of these KETs. Consequently, EURAMET has supported the creation of a European Metrology Network (EMN) for Advanced Manufacturing [2]. The EMN members currently are 18 National Metrology Institutes (NMIs) and Designated Institutes (DIs) from across Europe and the EMN was formally established in October 2021. The aim of the EMN is to develop a strategic dialogue with all relevant stakeholders and to provide a high-level coordination of European metrology activities for the Advanced Manufacturing community. One important EMN activity is focussed on the development of a strategic research agenda (SRA) to describe identified metrology research needs in advanced manufacturing. The approach of the EMN for Advanced Manufacturing has been published in [3]. The SRA is thought to be a living document that will be maintained by the EMN and serves a mechanism for obtaining, integrating and sharing input from all stakeholders. The development of the SRA included a preliminary draft SRA published in January 2023 as listed content [4], which also supported the 2023 Calls of the European Partnership on Metrology Research Program [5]. The final SRA document will be published in 2024, details of the SRA development approach were described in [6]. The structure of the SRA is oriented at so-called cross-cutting topics (CCT), which broadly cover the key steps in manufacturing. |
