Zusammenfassung The neutron energy spectrum of a 241Am-Be(_,n) source was measured by means of a 3He spectrometer in the energy range from 100 keV to 11 MeV. The spectrometer consisted of two semiconductor detectors with a proportional counter arranged between them to measure the energy loss of the 3He(n,p)3H reaction particles in the 3He gas. Discrimination against photons and particles from (n,_) reactions was performed by analysing the two-parameter distribution of energy loss in the proportional counter versus total energy by means of a minicomputer. For the neutron energy spectrum measured and a theoretical one given by Geiger and Van der Zwan, mean fluence to dose equivalent conversion factors were calculated from the corresponding values for monoenergetic neutrons from cylindrical and spherical phantoms and for the case of taking maximum values of dose equivalent without consideration of penetration depth, as well as for a fixed penetration depth of 1 cm into the phantoms.
