Zusammenfassung In a French-German cooperative project a counting system for exoelectron research work was developed. The Geiger-counter is of the conventional mono-point type and was developed into a compact apparatus with optimised CH4 gas flow, integrated 14C calibration source, quick exchange of anode (gold sphere), anode aperture and plug-in heating unit (700 °C) for TSEE, integrated air and/or water cooling and glass fibre optics for OSEE. A grid version as well as free anode and guarded anode versions are available. The corresponding electrons are designed for robust Geiger mode operation with a zero level <10 counts.s -1, accepting up to 30,000 counts.s -1. The plateaux reach zero slopes over 300 V in length. Among other facilites diverse heating programmes, automatic calibration reading and single or double peak reading and printing are provided. In dosimetry the dose range begins below 10-3 cGy (rad) and ends up above 10 cGy (rad) for TSEE reading and at dose saturation for OSEE reading when using BeO thin film (BUG) detectors.
