| Zusammenfassung | During the last two years a software modul for numerical in-process error-correction of a gantry-typed coordinate measuring machine (CMM) was developed and tested at the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB). In this paper a description of the theoretical model is given, which is independent of the special type of CMM. The measuring procedures for the 21 errors (3 transversal and 3 angular errors for each carriage and additionally 3 deviations from rectangularity) are sketched. The experimental intercomparison with the original CMM by the aid of gage blocks and step gages shows an improvement of the accuracy by a factor of about 4 in the axes and about 3 in the volume.
