| Zusammenfassung | Innovation and confidence in an efficient quality infrastructure are the basis of a stable and successful economy and society. The main pillar of an efficient quality infrastructure is the ability to obtain valid data based on high-precision measurements - which is the definition of metrology. The economy and society of the 21st century are in the process of a comprehensive digital transformation: the course is being set to firmly establish the basis for success in the digital arena which is the cornerstone for the development of the economy and society in the digital age. Digitalization is a process which has been developing over several years. Especially the exponential development of computing and storage capacities as well as the increasing speed of data exchange and the costeffective availability of versatile sensors which can be used flexibly have opened up fully new possibilities when it comes to creating networks between objects and to the exploitation of the data and information stored. |
