Zusammenfassung Dobson spectrophotometer is one of the main network instrument types used to monitor the ozone layer. The retrieval algorithm requires information about the bandpass functions. For this purpose, tabulated functions have been used traditionally. Thus, deviations between actual and the nominal ones could be anticipated. Within the EMRP ENV 059 ATMOZ project, two reference Dobson instruments were characterised at PTB. A pulsed tuneable laser source was used for the measurements. The characterisation procedure, results and implications are discussed in the paper.
