Zusammenfassung The full energy peak efficiency of two Ge(Li), two high-purity germanium and one Si(Li) detector was determined experimentally by using primary standard sources emitting gamma-radiation in the energy range from 5 keV to 3 MeV. In addition, the efficiency was calculated by means of Monte Carlo methods. Measurements and calculations are in excellent agreement for some detectors but disagree for others. Reasons for the deviations are discussed. Monte Carlo calculations cannot replace experimental efficiency determinations but it is demonstrated that they are a useful aid for a reliable interpolation and extrapolation of experimental efficiency data.
