| Zusammenfassung | With the 2nd amendment of IEC 60601-2-33 edition 3 (2010) the magnetic field limit in first level controlled operating mode was increased from 4T to 8T. This opens the opportunity for CE marking of Ultra High Field MRI systems as a medical device. Further, the so called 'Fixed Parameter Option' (FPO:B) with limited RF and gradient fields in terms of B1 and dB/dt is introduced. Patient with FPO labeled implant can be scanned safely if FPO:B is activated on the scanner. FPO:B is restricted to 1.5T systems only but the concept behind FPO:B could be extended to 3T or 7T systems. The development of IEC 60601-2-33 edition 4 is under way. 3T and 7T systems together with new RF transmit technology require a major revision of RF power control based on the thermal dose concept. |
