| Zusammenfassung | Experimental nanodosimetry aims to establish a new concept of radiation quality based on measurable characteristics of the particle track structure. Within the European Joint Research Project “BioQuaRT” (Biologically Weighted Quantities in Radiotherapy) and the Italian experiment MITRA (MIcrodosimetry and TRAck structure), funded by INFN, experiments have been carried out at the Tandem accelerator facility of LNL using almost identical radiation quality of carbon ion beams to measure track structure characteristics with the PTB Ion Counter and the LNL StarTrack Detector. Up to now, measurements performed within the framework of ILITS experiment (Investigation of Light-Ion Track Structure) have been focused exclusively on carbon ion beams of various energies: during the previous beam time periods in April 2013, June 2013, October 2013, December 2013, May 2014 and June 2014 ionisation cluster size distributions (ICSDs) in 1.2 mbar propane produced by carbon ions of 43 MeV, 75 MeV, 88 MeV, 94 MeV and 150 MeV were measured with the PTB Ion Counter at the +30 beam line of the first TANDEM experimental hall, while the INFN STARTRACK detector measured ICSDs in 3 mbar propane, produced by carbon ions of 76 MeV, 96 MeV, 150 MeV and 240 MeV. This report presents the results obtained with the PTB Ion Counter. |
