| Zusammenfassung | Measurements of the relaxing or remanent magnetization of magnetic nanoparticles are introduced as a novel technique for detecting biological binding reactions. For this purpose antibodies were labeled with magnetic nanoparticles and their binding to solid-phase absorbed antigen was investigated using Superconducting Quantum Interference Devices (SQUIDs) as magnetic field sensors. The presented data show that determination of the magnetic relaxation signal as well as measurement of the remanent magnetization of magnetic nanoparticles coupled with antibodies provide specific information on the binding state of the antibodies. The technologies presented thus avoid the usually necessary separation of bound and unbound reaction components in biological assays, e.g. immunoassays. |
