Zusammenfassung A new principle of a calorimetric biosensor for the determination of enantiomeric excesses is described. Two enzymes, immobilized on polymer resins, are used in the system. One hydrolyses only one enantiomer while the other converts both. It is thus possible to determine the concentration of the analyte as well as the ratio of L to D enantiomer. The sensor was tested in aqueous solutions containing up to 50% dimethyl formamide (DMF), and was successfully applied to the analysis of enantiomeric excesses. This result will open novel applications of biosensors for monitoring enzymatic reactions, even when organic solvents are used.
