| Zusammenfassung | For testing rhythm detection algorithms in Automated External defibrillators (AEDs) labelled for use in children, a pediatric ECG database containing non-shockable and shockable ECGs is required. A possible source for these data could be the use of ECGs scanned from paper archives. In order to estimate the quality of these data, we printed ECGs from a digital ECG device with high resolution on a laser printer and scanned the images at different pixel resolution. Digital ECGs were then reconstructed using simple image processing algorithms. Form features and frequency spectrum of original and reconstructed ECGs were compared. We found that scanning from paper archives retains the important features for arrhythmia detection in pediatric ECGs when the scanned image size was equal or larger than 60% of the original ECG scaling. |
