| Zusammenfassung | Industrial X-ray computed tomography (CT) is a well-established non-destructive testing (NDT) technology and has been in use for decades. Hence, international standards and guidelines have been established to assist the user and to evaluate performance. Moreover, CT has also started to become an important technology for dimensional metrology. The requirements on dimensional CTs, i.e. on performing coordinate measurements with CT, are different from NDT applications. For dimensional measurements, the position of interfaces or surfaces is of importance, while this is often less critical in NDT applications. Due to the increased use of CT as a coordinate metrology technology, both users and manufacturers have a growing interest in standardization. National guidelines on CT used for dimensional metrology started in Germany in 2004. Currently, four guidelines of the series VDI/VDE 2630 have been published covering nomenclature, influence factors and user guidance, specifications and the comparison of measurement technologies. At the international standardization level the ISO TC 213 WG 10 is working on the specification topic. This paper highlights the demands on international standards in the field of dimensional CT and describes the developments from the viewpoint of representatives who are members in national and international standardization committees. Key aspects of discussion are the material influence on the measurements of the length measurement error E and the aspect of measurements of inner geometries which are both under discussion now. The authors have tried to comment on the current approaches and will give an outlook on coming developments as far as they can be foreseen. see also: Schmitt, R.: ISMTII 2013 : metrology - master global challenges, the 11th International Symposium on Measurement Technology and Intelligent Instruments: (2013), 28.
