| Zusammenfassung | After the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident in 1986, all European countries installed automatic dosimetry network systems with the aim to provide an immediate warning in case of a major radiological emergency. The European Radiological Data Exchange Platform (EURDEP) at present collects dose rate values from more than 4500 stations in Europe. The reliability and comparability of these data ist of key importance for national governmental decisions as well as for recommendations issued by the European Community Urgent Radiological Information Exchange System (ECURIE) to the EU member states in case of a radiological emergency. For these reasons, the methods used to quantitatively determine external dose rates and levels of ground contamination, after a nuclear accident, need to be harmonized. |
