| Zusammenfassung | Josephson voltage standards are well-established for high-precision DC voltage measurements. Programmable Josephson voltage standards (PJVS) are an approach for extending their use to AC voltage applications by rapidly switching the driving currents of the different segments within a binary-divided Josephson junction series arrays. High noise immunity is ensured by wide constant-voltage steps. At PTB, series arrays of overdamped Josephson junctions needed for PJVS are now fabricated using SNS junctions (S: Superconductor, N: Normal metal). A very promising kind of SNS Josephson junctions is based on NbxSi1-x barriers allowing the nearly independent tuning of critical current density and characteristic voltage by varying the niobium content and the thickness of the barrier. We optimised the junction barrier deposition for co-sputtered NbxSi1-x for use in different operation ranges especially at 70 GHz (binary-divided arrays) and at 15 GHz (pulse-driven arrays), respectively. We successfully fabricated Josephson junction arrays for operation at 70 GHz containing up to 69632 junctions, and delivering output voltages up to 10 V. The width of the constant-voltage steps at 10 V exceeds 1 mA for a typical critical current of about 3 mA. The development of Josephson junctions and series arrays with a NbxSi1-x barrier for applications at 70 GHz as well as around 15 GHz will be presented at the conference. |
