| Zusammenfassung | Any accurate method of quantitative analysis x-ray fluorescence requires a mathematical relationship between photon counts of characteristic emission lines and the amounts of chemical elements in a sample. This paper deals with achievable accuracy, applicability, and limitations of ("truly") referencefree fundamental parameter (fp-) methods that are based on physical/mathematical models employing established atomic data such as photo-absorption and total attenuation of x-rays, the probabilities of the various inner-atomic de-excitation processes following an excitation event, and data related to the experimental setup including geometry and spectral characterization of the external radiation source. |
