| Zusammenfassung | During the medical examination of patients. Humans as well as animals, by means of X-rays, frequently the parents or the pet owners respectively, are present and also assist voluntarily during X-raying. The occupationally exposed medical staff members are monitored regularly by wearing personal dosemeters, whereas for the voluntarily assisting persons no dose measurements are carried out as they are both cost- and time-intensive. However, for those persons as well, the dose limits prescribed in the European radiation protection regulations have to be observed. The personal dose equivalent Hp(10) for persons assisting knowingly and willingly in X-ray examinations in medicine, dentistry and veterinary medicine was measured for different examination scenarios. Typical exposure situations have been identified and measurements performed in the fields of scattered X-rays. The measurements were carried out in medical practices and, to verify these measurements, also under laboratory conditions. For detailed investigations in veterinary medicine, it was necessary to develop and to manufacture special animal phantoms representing the scatter properties of real animals. The results obtained here have been transferred to those in medicine and dentistry. The personal dose equivalent Hp(10) for persons assisting knowingly and willingly in X-ray examinations in medicine, dentistry and veterinary medicine of animals were determined and is in the order of a few μSv. |
