| Zusammenfassung | Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a method used for the study of the interior structures of matter. In MRI, a sample is magnetized and the precession signals that the sample produces are detected either using resistive coils (high fields) or superconducting sensors (low fields). Because imaging times in low-field MRI are long, all methods that help to reduce the acquisition times are useful. In this study, a new encoding method, called polarization encoding, is developed for MRI. The method takes advantage of the new possibilities of low-field MRI; especially, the possibility to easily modify polarizing fields is used. In polarization encoding, various palarizing fields are used to obtain information about the sample. The method is tested with simulations in a low-field MRI system. It is shown that polarization encoding can reduce acquisition times and increase the information about the sample. Also, the method can replace tradition signal averaging and it can be combined with other encoding methods, e.g., Fourier encoding. |
