| Zusammenfassung | MEG and EEG are widely used methods for the study of neural activity. The often complementary nature of magnetical and electrical recordings is well known. There are many studies that apply ICA to single modality measurement (either MEG or EEG) but a joint ICA has been not deeply investigated to date. We show the value of using a joint ICA of MEG and EEG data from a combined measurement. The focus is on the alpha rhythm commonly recoreded in both modalities. Alpha components were isolated by both methodologies (seperate ICA and joint ICA). It is found that both approaches extract similar alpha sources using vector algebraic and physical modelling as comparative measures and therefore more degrees of freedom by joint ICA are expected to be available. |
