| Zusammenfassung | A new method is described which allows a long-range anemometer to be set up using diode lasers with a very low output power and simple PIN photodiodes. This method can be used whenever it is possible to install a photodiode in the transmitted beam at the receiving end. The method was implemented with best results for working distances up to 24 meters. Starting from the concept of the "4pi-ringe anemometer", comparison measurements are carried out with a conventional dual beam LDA. The attainable signal-to-noise ratios (SNR) are measured and the merits of the new method discussed. Subsequently, verification experiments are performed to modify the 4pi-fringe anemometer into a long-range anemometer. This new method can be used in particular in the field of wind-tunnel technology. The 4pi-fringe anemometer offers a very elegant possibility of constructing low-priced flow sensors. |
