| Zusammenfassung | Aim of this work was to compare the efficacy of correlation-based template matching and independent component analysis (ICA) in the separation and identification of the cardiac signals of a mother with her triplet fetuses, recorded simultaneously in magnetocardiographic acquisitions. In 61-channel recordings obtained between the 20th and 32nd week of gestation, all maternal and fetal beats were visually identified. We then compared these with the beats automatically found in the processed original signal and in the ICA components which could be assigned to the mother or her triplets. Both approaches were successful in the identification of high amplitude signals. In weaker signals, the correlation-based method identified a reasonable number of beats in almost all cases. Although identification of beats was better in ICA, the success rate in identifying the sources in ICA components was lower. Signal strength, stationarity and heart rate similarity will have influenced the results. |
