| Zusammenfassung | The absorption on three walls in the plenum (one lateral wall and two opposite walls), according to ISO 140-9 is intended to give a good approximation to the “best real case”, where the rooms under consideration are situated far from reflecting massive walls of the building, e.g. facades. In cases where reflecting walls are flanking or even surrounding the lightweight construction under consideration lower results are expected. In those cases the standard measurements give too optimistic values. The measurements made with a 10:1 model in size give results with good approximation to full size measurements in official test labs according to ISO 140-9. The differences found between best and worst case with regard to reflecting or absorbing walls in the plenum can go up to 15 dB. Discussions can now start within ISO/TC 43/SC 2 regarding the inclusion of additional remarks in the standard, giving warnings to the use of test results for prediction in not ideal cases. |
