| Zusammenfassung | Cardiac propagation is investigated by simulations of the modified Beeler-Reuter model using realistic geometry and muscle fibre orientation of the ventricles of a rabbit heart. Electrical excitation is introduced by a periodic pacing of the lower septum of the heart. Depending on the pacing frequency qualitatively different dynamics are observed: namely normal heart beat, T-wave alternans and fibilltion at small, intermediate and large pacing frequencies, respectively. The critical frequency at the onset of alternans and the profiles of the membrane potential agree well with the one obtained in a one-dimensional model and can be explained in terms of the action potential restitution curve. |
