| Zusammenfassung | We report preliminary measurements of photon-assisted tunnelling in a 4-junction electron pump with on-chip resistors to suppress cotunnelling. Individual tunnelling events are detected by a single-electron transistor electrometer capacitively coupled to the drain electrode of the pump. The maximum "dark" tunnelling rate, obtained by adjusting gate voltages coupled to the pump islands, is approx 30 s-1, consistent with previous measurements on similar devices. Photons from a microwave source located at room temperature are guided to the electron pump along a co-axial line and capacitively coupled to its source electrode. The microwave voltage at the source electrode is estimated by utilising the photon assisted tunnelling characteristic of the electrometer at low bias voltages in conjunction with a circuit model of the pump/electrometer combination. |
