| Zusammenfassung | When MRI/MRS is performed at high magnetic field strengths, the rf wavelengths employed are comparable to the dimensions of the subject or object under investigation, e.g., the human head or body. This situation complicates the development of efficient MR coils and resonators tremendously. Thus, MR-based measuring techniques for accurately mapping the B1 rf field and the absorbed energy (SAR) are prerequisites for achieving consistent, optimal coil performance and for comparing experimental results with theoretical models. In this report we present sound experimental methods and simulations techniques for mapping the absolute B1 amplitude, the B1 phase, SAR-induced temperature changes, and SAR distributions in phantoms mounted in 3-T head coils operating in the linearly or circularly polarized mode. |
