Zusammenfassung The ultrasonic power emitted by an ultrasonic transducer in water is a characteristic output parameter of medical ultrasonic equipment. Its determination is recommended in several international IEC standards. The measurement method preferred world-wide is the radiation force method. The theory behind it is briefly discussed. The practical implementation applying a radiation force balance and using a dynamic measurement procedure is shown, and some experiment details are considered. Examples from the results of the world-wife CIPM key comparison on ultrasonic power with 9 participants are presented and discussed. Finally a recent collaborative project funded by the European Union and its results are briefly presented. Portable power transfer standards have been constructed and circulated to parties in the field, with the aim of improving the quality of ultrasonic power results of ultrasonic physiotherapy devices.
