Zusammenfassung Temperature measurements traceable to the national standard are necessary for applications in fields such as chemicals production, metallurgy, food storage, and heating systems. In Germany many of the calibrations necessary for the traceability chain are performed by accredited calibration laboratories of the German Calibration Service (DKD). About 50 laboratories are accredited for the calibration of instruments such as resistance thermometers, thermocouples, liquid-in-glass thermometers and radiation thermometers. An increasing number of laboratories are accredited for the calibration of industrial equipment such as temperature block calibrators and climatic chambers. DKD calibration guidelines are essential for unified procedures applied by users of such instruments and the calibration laboratories. Besides the assessment of the quality manual and the laboratory equipment, also interlaboratory comparisons are an important measure to build confidence in the calibrations. These are performed on the one hand on the occasion of the assessments and surveillance visits, and on the other hand in well organised loops in which all accredited laboratories have to participate. Results of an interlaboratory comparison with temperature block calibrators are given.
