| Zusammenfassung | The X-ray pattern of a mass of very fine anatomical structures shows a noise-like behaviour and is therefore referred to as anatomical noise. Its appearance alters completely from radiograph to radiograph since different fine anatomical structures are superimposed due to unavoidable motions of the patient between the exposures. The detectability of radiological signals is reduced due to the anatomical noise. A method to reduce the anatomical noise is proposed: Two images of the same anatomy are produced using slightly different geometric conditions. These two images are compared locally at different resolution levels in the wavelet domain. Each wavelet coefficient is multiplied with a factor, which is proportional to the value of the correlation images. This method was tested for different changes of the imaging geometry. In the case of no geometrical changes only the quantum and electronic noise are reduced. An effect of de-noising for the investigated images is obvious. |
