Zusammenfassung The Provisional Low Temperature Scale of 2000, PLTS-2000, was adopted in October 2000, using the melting pressure of 3He als the thermometric parameter, with a specified equation for the (p, T2000) relationship. Also in 2000, a project started, under the EU programme for Competitive and Sustainable Growth, to investigate methods by which the PLTS-2000 could be disseminated to users in the field of ULT research and industry. This is to ensure traceability to the PLTS-2000 where direct measurements of the melting pressure are nto practical. A number of devices have been developed and their evaluation is in progress. The devices include a current-sensing noise thermometer, which can be used with little or no calibration down to and below 1 mK, wide-ranging Pt and 3He NMR thermometers also useable below 1 mK, a small CMN thermometer for commercial exploitation, a Coulomb blockade thermometer which ahas potential for convenient use down to 20 mK, a second-sound thermometer as a local reference device, and a self-contained 3He melting-pressure thermometr. A Superconductive reference device, SRD1000, has been developed to enable simplified in situ calibration to be achieved, and some commercial ruthenium oxide resistance sensors are being evaluated. The various devices are under evaluation in the final phase of the project, which will continue until the end of 2003.
