| Zusammenfassung | Software has greatly gained in importance since the introduction of microprocessor technology in metrology. Due to the high precision of the manufacturing processes for mechanical and electronic components, the metrological behaviour and the functionality of measuring instruments are mainly determined by software today and, consequently, by the programmer. This applies even more to PC-based measuring instruments which can be programmed to the specific needs of the customer. Measuring instruments subject to legal control, too, have benefited from this development. This article presents an overview of special features of software in legal metrology, of the technological development, of the present state of European regulations, of current focal areas and future international activities. |
