Zusammenfassung Based on novel concepts, a UV-laser spectrometer has been set up to generate single longitudinal mode (SLM) radiation in the entire UV range down to 200 nm. At 205 nm, i.e. for the 1S-3S/D transition of atomic hydrogen, the system provides 5 mJ pulse energy in 4 ns pulses with a spectral bandwidth of 300 MHz. Tuneable SLM radiation generated by an injection seeded optical parametric oscillator (OPO) is amplified by Ti: Sapphire (Ti:Sa) crystals and converted into the UV by fourth harmonic generation.
