| Zusammenfassung | The melting point palladium is an important fixed point widely used for the calibration of noble metal thermocouples. The working group 2 of the Comite Consultatif de Thermometrie (CCT) provided a value of 1554,8 °C +/- 0,1 °C [1] for this fixed point in an argon atmosphere based on radiation thermometry. For the verification of this value by a second thermodynamic method noise temperature measurements were performed at PTB. To avoid the need to measure absolute noise voltages and to minimise non-linearity effects of electronic components, a thermometer based on noise comparison was used. In addition the parasitic noise from the amplifiers and the connection leads was eliminated by cross correlation using a two channel arrangement of parallel amplifiers. The noise temperature measurements by using a miniature fixed point resulted in a value of 1552,95 °C +/- 0,27 °C (k = 2) for the melting point of palladium in air. |
