| Zusammenfassung | Determining the internal ballistic gas pressure of ammunition has some important safety-engineering aspects. Compliance with statutory peak values for gas pressure has to be monitored in order to ensure that users such as competition marksmen are protected form pressure overloads within their firearms. The durability of a weapon is tested by firing ammunition which generates a test pressure 30% higher than working gas pressure. This paper is concerned with a measurement procedure for recording the development of gas pressure during firing, with the aid of strain gauges applied to the outer surface of a gun barrel specially designed for measurement. |
