| Zusammenfassung | Non-destructive methods have been developed at PTB for the characterisation of commercial wide-area reference sources of both, alpha- and beta-emitting radionuclides. Such sources are widely used for the calibration of contamination detectors. As a result, manufacturers of sources and industrial laboratories are able to trace their calibrations of reference sources back to national standards, a requirement which is inevitable e.g. for the accreditation of calibration laboratories by a national accreditation body. The experimental methods for the characterisation of reference sources and their application in an industrial calibration laboratory are described and the associated measurement uncertainties are discussed. |
