| Zusammenfassung | For the first time, significant correlations between absolute cerebral glutamate concentrations (meas-ured by MRS at 3 T) and behavioral traits in humans are reported. Significant negative correlations (controlled for age) between glutamate levels in the ACC and the Sensation Seeking Sum score, as well as the subscales thrill and adventure seeking, and experience seeking were observed. The sub-scales boredom susceptibility or disinhibition did not correlate significantly with glutamate (p)0.05). A significant negative correlation was observed also for the hippocampal glutamate concentration and the SSS. Studies on behavioral effects of cerebral glutamate are important in psychiatric research and may help to develop new agents for psychiatric pharmacotherapy. |
