Zusammenfassung The development of high temperature metal-carbon fixed-points above the freezing point of copper (1357 K) has been the subject of intense activity since their inception in 1999. This paper presents the results of a comparison of three independently developed Pt-C (2011 K) fixed-point blackbody cavities and three independently developed Re-C (2747 K) fixed-point blackbody cavities. The cavities were developed and constructed by NMIJ, BIPM and NPL. The measurements were performed over a two-week period in February 03 at NPL. Two high temperature furnaces were used to initiate the fixed-points quasi-simultaneously and two high precision radiation thermometers from NPL and PTB to perform independent radiance comparisons. During the comparison great care was taken to investigate systematic sources of uncertainty such as the effect of furnace gradients and also size-of-source effect (SSE). The results indicate that the three Pt-C cells agreed to better than 150 mK with a measurement uncertainty of approximately 200 mK (k=2). The three Re-C cells agreed to better than 250 mK with a measurement uncertainty of approximately 240 mK (k=2). These results show that it is possible for independent laboratories to make high temperature fixed-point blackbody sources that are reproducible within the uncertainty of measurement. This opens the possibility of using the high temperature metal carbon eutectic fixed-points as stable temperature references in any redefinition of the ITS.
